Every now and then I like to highlight someone who always seems to take it to the next level. Someone who doesn’t seem to try very hard, but always stands out. That someone is actress, Ms. Zoe Saldana. She has a keen sense of fashion; I’d like to call it sexy with a dash of modesty. I’ve been the biggest fan of hers since she stepped on the scene as Eva Rodriguez in the 2000 dance flick “Center Stage.”  Saldana has become a versatile actor, and she not only shows it in her talent but in her wardrobe.

I’m most impressed with this stunning black dress she wore at the Museum of Contemporary Art’s 30^th Anniversary Gala on Nov. 14 in Los Angeles.

The sheer fabric gives a quixotic undertone and she always adds a touch subtlety to her ensembles. She has been dominating the red carpet for a while now, so let’s take a look at a few of her most red-carpet garments.

Here she is at the Cinema Against AIDS gala, where she wore a nude-colored frock with some beautiful black and gold high-heeled sandals. Not everybody can rock something so intricate, but she did and it looks gorgeous!

At the Metorpolitan Opera’s 125^th Anniversary Gala in March, she wore a beautiful belted, green pleated dress donned with light accessories.

Now there’s just something about this dress! Here she is rocking a short black dress with elaborate sequined detailing at the Star Trek premiere. She topped it off with a hot pair of peep-toe heels!

Take a look at sexy newcomer, Ryan Leslie. He tends to be simple, but his style has a casual yet sophisticated look. The Harvard-educated brother’s music reflects his style–original. Not everyone can wear a salmon-colored plaid shirt and jeans. But obviously RLes knows what looks good on him. And as he says in his song Never Gonna Break Up, “I get the finest clothes I can find on retail.” We hear you Ryan!

Despite his erratic behavior, Mr. Kanye West has style.  This dude takes risks and pulls it off every time. You may catch him drawing us in with hot green pants with a white T-shirt and a sweater, and pairing it with white tennis shoes. Or you can see him sporting jeans, with a white collard shirt topping it with a hot brown blazer. Speaking of blazers, they tend to be such THE accessory for a man’s ensemble, especially when they’re with jeans a nice shoes. In this particular photo of West, he’s wearing a black and white pin-stripe suit and a broken-heart pin, I’m guessing in lieu of his latest album 808s & Heartbreak.

Collegiate Cardigans have also been a fashion forward accessory. It doesn’t seem to be heading in the fad category. Possibly, a necessity like jeans?

Common is also another brother who takes great pride in what he wears out the door. Here he is rocking gray jeans, a grey cardigan over a white collard shirt and tie. How classic and sexy is that?!

Most recently, Terrance Howard co-hosted the Soul Train Awards, in which he wore a pin-stripe, blue suit with brown and tan shoes. Can someone say, GQ?

Last and certainly not least, I’d like to call this person the Fashion Forward King. Mr. Fonzworth Bentley, the cool outrageous brother with uniquely raw style has revamped the way men should look, especially with his classic, 40s-inspired suits. Bentley is known for his risk-taking colors such as the ensemble he wore at the Soul Train Awards. Now who can wear a turquoise blue blazer over a light blue collard shirt and rock it, with a Gumby-inspired fade other than Bentley himself. This sophisticate released a book in 2007 called “Advance your Swagger; How to use, Manners, Confidence and Style to Get Ahead,” so this is a lifestyle for him not a statement. Love it!

At the Michael Jackson “This Is It” L.A. Premiere, both women wore all black attire. Fox wore a black asymmetrical dress with silver accessories, while Nia went with black leggings, ankle-length boots and a sexy leather jacket. Actress Monique Coleman, also wore a classy short bustier-styled black dress, showing off her legs.

As I’ve said before Mary J. Blige will bring it no matter what. She showed up to the 26^th Annual Night of Stars in New York with a classy black dress with an intricate neckline and a black clutch. Ms. Mariah Carey and her better half, Nick Cannon, showed off their class at the AFI Premiere of “Precious.” Mariah wore a classy form-fitting black dress while Nick was decked in a stylish black suit.

The reality is, wearing all black will never be a fad, but there are seasons when you might see more people wearing it and some seasons you won’t. I say rock your fab, and if it happens to be in black, that’s even better!

Mo’Nique has become such a fast fashion trendsetter these days that I can’t wait until 11 p.m., every week- day, to see what she’s wearing on her talk show.

Now even though she has lost more than 40 pounds, her fashion sense has skyrocketed to another level that has heads turning, especially mine.

Before she lost her weight, I thought she had a nice sense of fashion, but now there is something about the way she’s wearing her clothes. There is some class and pizzazz with it.

I notice that she wears a lot of short form fitting dresses that accentuate her greatest assets. She seems to love it and working it. And I say she needs to continue with the style.

She has brought such liveliness to her show, with her new fashion sense. She may wonder why people are giving her compliments about her glowing beauty, but she just has something different exuding from her outward appearance, and there is nothing wrong with that!! Kudos Mo’Nique!

Her hair is even more amazing than it was before. Mo’Nique has completely made a transformation and it is evident.
